Engineering Resources

Layout of the Library

The entrance is on the first floor. This is where the Information Desk is located as well as the Loan Desk where materials can be checked out. Behind the Information Desk is the reference area. Here you will find handbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, periodical indexes, standards and statistical sources for engineering. Computerized databases that cover engineering can be accessed from the computers located in the Morgan Library Computer Lab, also on the first floor, and from most other computers in the library. These computers also provide access to the catalog for this library, databases which reference articles in journals, magazines, conference proceedings and other sources, electronic journals and catalogs of other libraries. Engineering and science books are located on the lower level (basement), west wing. To get there, go down the stairs between the Information Desk and the Morgan Library Computer Lab. At the bottom of the stairs turn left, then turn left again. Books and government documents can be loaned to undergraduate students for four weeks and to graduate students for six months. Bound periodicals (those more than two years old) can be loaned for two days. Most materials can also be renewed.

Current periodicals (published within the last two years) are located on the second floor, west wing, in the Current Periodicals Room. These issues cannot leave the library. To find out if the library has a particular periodical title, and to see what issues of that title are owned here, check in the Colorado State Libraries catalog, called SAGE. Periodicals older than two years are located on the lower level (basement). They are shelved in the south wing, which is toward the Eddy Building. For a map showing the location of engineering materials in the library go to: http://lib.colostate.edu/research/engr/engrmap.html.

If it turns out that a book, periodical article or other kind of material you need is not owned by this library you can still obtain it by making a request through Interlibrary Loan. This service is free for students, faculty and staff of Colorado State University. Interlibrary Loan requests can be made from the Interlibrary Loan link on the Libraries Web pages. Please ask questions regarding engineering materials at the Information Desk or contact Mike Culbertson via phone at 491-1874 and via email.

If you have questions about the materials and services mentioned in this guide or questions about anything having to do with the library system at Colorado State, feel free to contact Mike Culbertson at 491-1874 or email.
