Collection of 18th and 19th century botanical books, mostly on conifers, the gift of Dr. D.K. Bailey.  See Libraries Publication no. 26 (Z664.C6A3 No. 26). Housed in UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES.

A series of vertical bars of varying widths, in which each of the digits zero through nine are represented by a different pattern of bars that can be read by a laser scanner. The bars are commonly found on consumer products and are used especially for inventory control.

Non-profit, multi-state library services cooperative involving the libraries in the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.  It serves as a broker for CSUL's use of OCLC, and on-line services.

Details of an item that enable it to be identified completely and unambiguously.  Usually contains author, title, year, volume and page number of a journal or magazine; and author, title, year, publisher and place of publication if item is a book.

Formerly CATALOGING SERVICES, a unit in the TECHNICAL SERVICES DIVISION which is responsible for cataloging and classifying library materials, and DATABASE MAINTENANCE, located in MORGAN LIBRARY, 2nd floor, Suite 210.

Bibliographic Control and Electronic Resource Services

Bibliographic cataloging record from the OCLC, SAGE, and several other databases.  The MARC record describes the title being cataloged as it was published; contains both descriptive and subject entries; pertains to all copies of that edition.  Also called BIB RECORD.

List of books or periodical articles, usually on a particular subject.  National bibliographies may include all books published in a particular language or in a specific geographical area.  Several national bibliographies are shelved in the REFERENCE AREA.

The Big Twelve Plus Libraries Consortium is a regional consortium of research libraries located in the greater Midwest and Rocky Mountain area with common interests in programs related to interlibrary loan, shared electronic resources, cooperative collection development, digital libraries and new information technologies, staff development and continuing education, scholarly communication, and preservation and conservation.   The current 23 members are associated with the universities of the Big 12 Athletic Conference and other research institutions in its geographic proximity.  The staff offices of the consortium are located at the Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, Missouri. Now known as the GREATER WESTERN LIBRARY ALLIANCE (GWLA).

To be completed when a GIFT IN-KIND donation is expected to exceed 6 boxes or 180 items.  The form must be signed by all units who  may be impacted by the donation before it can be received by the Libraries.  Some forms will need approval by Z-GROUP .

When an item is sent to a commercial binder with material to be bound, this slip contains instructions for binding the particular item.

1. Section of PRESERVATION SERVICES that prepares books, periodicals, theses and dissertations, and other materials to be bound.
2. A commercial firm engaged in this activity.

Additional copy of a SERIAL, obtained when the serial has a record of heavy use or problems with stolen or mutilated issues.  These copies are retained in the BINDERY until ready for binding.  The copy in the JOURNAL ROOM is discarded after the bindery copy has been bound.

Book Industry Systems Advisory Committee which establishes the standard format for computerized book orders.

Annual recruitment event sponsored by CSU Admissions where high school students of African American descent are invited to campus for a weekend of research, group activity, and orientation to college life.  The students conduct all of their research in the MORGAN LIBRARY.

Collection Manager provides access to a database of over 2 million bibliographic records representing the top scholarly and academic titles in the world. Collection Manager is used to place orders directly with Blackwell's or can be used with the MARC export feature to create selection lists with ordering information.

BLOG

Short for Web log, a blog is a WEB PAGE that consists of dated postings, usually current and containing links to other sites, with content ranging from personal information to organizational or corporate information. Librarians also create blogs as one form of publishing information about current trends in the library field.

Complete or partial run of journals bound together into a single physical piece.  Housed in the LOWER LEVEL (basement) in MOVABLE SHELVES.  Only bound periodicals are on the movable shelves.  Bound serials are in the regular STACKS. Also Bound Volumes.

The COORDINATOR FOR ACCESS SERVICES is also the Building Proctor. As Building Proctor, the position acts as liaison between Morgan Library (and Depository) and Facilities Management, CSUPD, EHS and other campus services.

Slang term meaning to write data to a CD-ROM via CD-R DRIVE. "Burn" is derived from the actual heating of the inner dye of a writable disk by the CD writer.
